25. opposite /ɑ́p.ə.zit/ : (~의) 반대 위치에, (~의) 맞은[건너]편에

26. out /aut/ : ~을 통하여 밖으로; ~으로부터, ~에서(through, out of).

27. out of /áut.əv/ : (~의) 안에서 밖으로 ([opp.] into), ~의 범위 밖에[범위를 넘어], (~상태)에서 떠나, ~을[에서] 벗어나,

(일시적으로), ~이 부족하여[달리어]

28. over /óu.vər/ :「떨어진 바로 위의 위치를 보여」~(의) 위에[의],

~(의) 위 쪽 에 [의], ~ 의 머리[바로] 위에[의] ([opp.] under)「수량·정도·범위가」~을 넘어, ~ 보다 많은, 더 되는 (비교: more than이 일반적임). ([opp.] under).

※ over는 ‘떨어져 바로 위에’라는 수직관계를 나타내며

‘덮어 가리다, 덮치듯 위에’의 느낌이 가미됨.

above는 ‘바로 위에’를 포함하여 널리 위쪽의 위치를 나타냄.

on은 ‘접촉해서 위·표면에’의 뜻이 됨.

* opposite은 형용사로 더 많이 쓰인다.

26. out :

* 전치사의 기능은 일반적으로 영·미 모두 out of로 수행되는데,

여기에서와 같은 전치사로서의 out은 주로 미국 용법임.

q 4 그는 그의 집에서 나왔다 came out.

(he) (came) (out) (of) (his) (house).

q 5 그녀는 l.a. 밖[에] outside 산다.

(sh-) (-ves) (o-) (l.a.).

q 6 그는 그것[을] it 창밖[에] out the window 매달았다 hung.

(he) (h-) (it) (o-) (the) (win-).

q 7 화장실[은] the rest room 이 문 바깥[에] out this door 있다 is.

(the) (re-) (roo-) (is) (o-t) (th-) (do-).

* he looked through the window at the river. / 그는 창문을 통해 강을 보았다.

27. out of :

q 8 그는 지갑[을] a wallet 그의 주머니에서 꺼냈다 took ~out of~.

(he) (took) (a) (wallet) (out) (of) (his) (pocket).

q 9 그는 일 때문[에] on business 그의 사무실 밖에 있다 is out of his office.

(he’s) (o-) (of) (h-) (off-) (on) (busi-).

q10 나는 30불 중[에] out of 30 dollars 20불 50센트를 지불하였다 paid.
