영어 단어에서 강약과 장단을 듣기만 해서 구별하기란 쉽지 않다.

영한사전엔 단어에 있는 음절표기가 발음부호엔 없는 것도 문제다.

그렇지 않고 이 음도 되고 저 음도 되는 식은

현 생활에선 통하겠지만 바른 길은 아니다.

원어민도 바르게 발음하지 못한다.

그들은 enunciation에 학습을 하기 때문에 정확한 음을 못 낸다.

flow.er ==> / fláu.ər /(o)

flour / flauər /(x) ==> / flauər /(o) or / flaur /(o) / flaur /(o)

해설 : flow.er 는 두 음절 단어로 강세가 있어

/ fláu.--/에 힘을 주고 띄고 /-.ər /는 낮게 읽는다.

flour ==> / flauər /(o) or / flaur /(o) /flaur /(o)

음절이 없는 한 음절 단어로 처음부터 끝까지 같은 높이로 읽는다.

단, /ər/의 /ə/는 뒤 r음을 내기 위해 편의상 붙은 것으로 잘 못임.

아래 사이트에서 두 단어의 발음의 차이를 미국인의 원음으로 확실히 들어보자.
